Gutter Press
Techie kills wife and hangs himself
Well that's not really the kinda news I love reading with my cuppa coffee first thing in the morning, but what the hell! we live in the dog-kill-dog (bitch?!) world. The press (read parasites) are having a field day unearthing new facts about the couple and splashing it all across the papers.
Today's Bangalore Mirror (the paper that claims to give only the truth (read trash)) devoted almost three pages to the deceased couple. They published couple's photos picked from Orkut (one-stop-shop for peeping toms), the photo of the house they were found dead in (now that house is gonna get the "haunted" tag and the next tenant will get the house for dirt-cheap rent). The only thing missing was the photo of the "lover". Perhaps they are saving that for tomorrow.
Is this the gutter press or what? What shocks me more is that we love reading such stuff. Have we become scavengers feeding on what's left of anything? Have we turned into voyeurs getting more than a sneak peek into people's well-guarded personal lives? Or have we just turned into pure sadists rejoicing in the miseries of others. Is this what journalism has reduced to today?
